Finally! I saw this as a 12 twelvemonth erstwhile and the opening credits and music have stuck in my head all these years. Now pushing fifty, I finally get a run a risk to see it again. Estimate what? Like me, How The West Was Won (The Macahans)got better with age. What an awesome, expansive, powerful drama; it grabs hold of your center and heed and doesn't let become. Full of action, pathos, and the indomitable American spirit, this miniseries, and subsequently weekly series, is an example of what Television set could be merely rarely is.

This was probably the last great Boob tube western, and I gauge the ratings in America weren't all that hot and it faded away after just 20 some episodes. I hear in Europe information technology'southward always on the air in reruns and has been out on DVD for years. Perhaps Europeans are fascinated with American exceptionalism? Terrific show; practiced family unit viewing. Watch it with your kids, similar I watched it with my Dad.
